I used to have your same problem, the answer is dedication.
you have to really want to become more flexible and be willing
to work through the pain.
excersizes:
1: for your side split lay on your back and put your butt up against the wall, than let your legs fall to both sides and hold for 45 sec. and build off of that than holding for 50 sec. than 55 sec. and so on. but becareful over streching can be dangerous,
good luck!!
And don't forget!! ....giving head
I don't think that it is required but i believe many football players do ballet because it is a good way to become more flexible. Being flexible can help out with their football.
You can always start dance. Flexibility is not all that you need to take ballet. If you are determined you may become more flexible if you start dancing.
Yes. Flexibility is absolutely essential to dancing ballet well. It is impossible to do most of the steps in ballet without being much more flexible than the average person. A good ballet teacher makes sure to have their students do many stretches in every lesson so that their students will become more and more flexible. The more flexible a ballet dancer is, the more capable he or she is of doing the more difficult steps, such as grands ronds de jambes and penché. Flexibility can also making such steps seem easy, giving the illusion of being nearly weightless.
Modern dance is different because it is basically a mix between jazz style dancing and ballet. It helps you become more flexible and ties in different steps from jazz, ballet, and not to mention it has many of its own very creative steps! Ballet helps strengthen your whole body and improves your awareness of it. You learn how to use your muscles and they become stronger too. You also become more flexible. Ballet also improves your rhythm and musicality. It may also help your confidence and self-esteem. It will also tone your body especially your abs. However, the more ballet you do the more you will feel these effects. For example, I do about 5 and 1/2 hours of dance a week, which is made up of two vocational classes (ballet) and two grade classes (ballet) as well as a modern dance class (about 45 minutes). I have found since I started doing this in September in a few months I have seen a huge change in my body, my legs are more muscular and my biceps are really toned as well as the fact that my abs are flat (! for me!) If you are female, pointe really makes a difference to your body as to keep yourself up there you use your whole body. Pointe helps strengthen your legs but makes a huge difference to your core also.

The obvious answer is to make your self more flexible.
No, you don't have to learn ballet first to do a split. Its just a matter of how flexible you are, you just have to do a lot of stretching to make yourself more flexible.
Some girls take ballet to find more balance and gracefulness. Other regard it as a sort of beauty sport, which allows them to become more flexible. Some people think that doing ballet and dancing allows them to forget about their worries and to just let it all go.
