If you don't train alot (only run 2-3 times a week), any time under 3:10 is great. With training, any time from 2:30-3:00 should be attainable.

It is very good i am a middle school runner and my personal best is 2:47. It's not bad. But a crack 12yo should at least be running in the 2.20s. My son is 10 and in training the other night, he ran five 800s in 2.37-2.42 with only 2min 50 rest in between. You either need more fitness, or if you're lacking in speed, ditch the 800 and go for longer stuff - like cross country at your age. My 10yo ran 2.23 the other day. A good 12yo should be running mid-low 2.20s.
My son is in the 7th grade and just had his first meet. He ran the mile in 5:31 and finished 2nd.
Most people saw no need to educate girls beyond 8th grade in the early 1800's. This has long since changed.
