A recurve bow that is about 66" in length with a draw weight of 18# to 20#. This would allow the child to grow with the same bow for a while. Remember you can still crank up the tilter to add 3# to the existing 18# or 20# later on. If your child has difficulties pulling the suggested weight the first time, he will grow stronger within the next two sessions 1 week apart, with stretch band practice in between sessions. I have youth students at the age of 9 pulling a starting weight of 18# and pulling a 20# after 3 sessions, and youth students at age 11 pulling a starting weight of 20# and pulling a 24# after 3 sessions. They do grow stronger fast.
