if you want money to college for running you need to run 50 or under. to be top 10 nationally you need a 46.5- 47 at least. 47-48 is still in a very elite category. I have seen freshman come in running 62 and end up running 50 by senior year and i have seen freshman running 55 run 53 as seniors, it depends a lot on body maturity. However a most recent graduate of mine ran 56.6 as a freshman 51.9 as a sophmore 49.4 as a junior and 48.5 as a senior. He now runs division one

∙ 12y agoA good 400 time for a Middle school student would be: 5th grade: 1:13-1:15 6th grade: 1:08-1:09 7th grade: 1:03-1:04 8th grade: under 1 minute
Hello?! we're talking MIDDLE SCHOOL here those are ridiculous times! For boys and girls. Under a minute is insane for an 8th grader! Here are some more reasonable times:
Girls:
6th Grade: 1:16-1:19
7th Grade: 1:12- 1:15
8th Grade: 1:08- 1:05
Boys:
6th Grade: 1:12-1:15
7th Grade: 1:10- 1:08
8th Grade: 1:05- 1:02
I am an 8th grader that has bad Asthma. I still hold the MS record with a time of 1:06:08 for the 400 meter, and another record for the 800 medley. I set that record in 7th grade, and now im in 8th grade I will probably beat it by a lot again, and Im a girl so ya. Plus my asthma is pretty bad.
Dude what do you mean by "record" for your town or your age group? Because i have asthma too and i can run that in like 1:00 flat as an 8th grader.
Im a 8th grader and I run 400m in 1:02 pr I just started running track this year, but my brother is a state champ for the 400m dash.
I am an 8th grader and to win in my district, you will have to run the 400 under a minute. I ran it in 58.2 and got 2nd place in the city meet. My friend won first by running a 56.6 but his fastest was a 55.1; only .7 seconds from the city record! I'm in 8th grade and my best 400 time is 58.3. I'm one of the fastest in my grade but a good time for eighth grade is 1 min or less. I could only get 1.03 in seventh grade so u can get much faster in a year.
I am in 7th grade and 1 minute and 30seconds is considered pratically walking in 400m. The record for a seventh grade 400m run in track is 60sec. flat. I am pretty athletic and can run it pretty darn quickly! I know because we just had a meet today. Those times are ridiculously slow and you should set higher expectations!
Im a seventh grader the first one was the most accurate I had a meet today and I just got my best time 1:03.
Im a sixth grade girl and I run a 1:16. The top girl on our team runs a 1:08, she is in eighth grade. So anything around that range would be good. For boys I think the best is like a minute flat, but the kid who runs that is ridiculously fast. I think a good time for middle school boys would be upper sixties to low seventies. Maybe 66-73.

∙ 15y agowell for middle school boys, the best that is around here is about a 57-56. there are probably some schools out there that can run in the low 50's. but the most common middle school times that are good are around 57-56 range. well for middle school boys, the best that is around here is about a 57-56. there are probably some schools out there that can run in the low 50's. but the most common middle school times that are good are around 57-56 range.

∙ 13y agoWhat gives ppl an advantage in track is sometimes they run club track so when they come to school track they are beating everyone. I'm going into 8th grade and I run 58 and other girls that r the same age run under a minute

I run track and I'm in 8th grade. My track season is about to end.Pretty sad about that.Anyways I am an untrained athlete who runs a 1:10 for the 400m. I haven't ran any other grade besides 8th.The fastest girl on my team runs a 1:03 PR which is insane. She is crazy fast even beats most of the guys on my team.I would say a good time for an eighth grade girl who is untrained would be anywhere from 70-80 (trained 60-70).For the boys anywhere frome 60-67.(trained 57-63)

Hope I helped! :)

∙ 14y agoWell depending on how much you run a decent time would be about 2mins to 2:30 depending on your grade

∙ 14y agoI'm in 8th grade and I run the 400 in 1:05. I'm fairly good, although I usually run long distance, not the shorter sprints. 1 minute - 1:05 is a good time, and 1:10 s decent.

∙ 12y agoAbout 29 seconds and lower
its alright
in the 50's
1min 10secs should be a good time
Yoshua Selvadurai ran 3 min 34 seconds when he was 13. This is a world record. I suggest taking your child to a professional trainer for entrance to the youth Olympics.
1 minute 30 seconds is a great time, 1 minute 40 seconds is good
about 55 to 60 second maybe, i can run it in 56.21 second you
1 meter = 100 cm400 cm:= 400 cm * 1 meter/100 cm= 400 meter/100= 0.4 meterAnswer: 400 cm = 0.4 meter

For someone with good form and someone who is in good shape the race should add somewhere in the relm of 5 secs
not really.... if you could get that down to 2:20 that would be good
Depending on height, age, and track conditions, anywhere from 57 to 62 seconds. The record is 50.74 seconds set by Monique Henderson of Cerritos, California on 3 June 2000.
if u mean high school freshman then that is insane
