Well if you run often and really have a passion for running. And you are in the track team and you are going to compete most times for males are going to be 5.35-6.10 and for females it will be 5.50-6.50. By the way this will have to be high school. So if you are going to compete good luck.

Since many, perhaps most, people are unable to run a mile and a half, there is no real answer to this question.
It also depends upon what 'running' means, and opinions differ. For example, everyone agrees that covering a mile in six minutes or less is running, but is someone who covers it in nine minutes running or jogging?
It is not unreasonable simply to pick a number. Let's suppose that covering a mile in 8 minutes or less is running. If so, it would take 12 minutes to run a mile and a half. Actually, that's a very good time. Anything under 15 minutes would still probably be considered good by average standards.
The previous answer of 7 minutes I thought was insufficient as well as inaccurate because my PE teacher claims even a female in her prime condition runs a 6-7 minutes mile on average, note IN HER PRIME CONDITION. I ran a regular 7-or so min mile when I was conditioned or rather in shape. For guys, it's a minute less, 5-6. But that's the standard for most athletes. We took a freshmen physical exam required by the State of California and the time limit for girls was under 10:30 and the guys 9:30.
In my school the lowest time you can get is 14 minutes. If you get it past 14 then you have to do it again. I got 8.20
A man named Bannister broke the 4-minute mile many years ago. To do that, he had to run full out from the get-go. I find it doubtful that amateurs can run the mile in 5-6 minutes, short of doping or whatever. I think someone is cheating themselves or their stop-watch is bad. The "average" run time is about 8 minutes. The "average" person can walk 4-5 miles per hour, so the run time should be just maybe twice that, so an hour long run distance is about 8-10 miles.
Actually i run about 6 to 6:30 for the mile no its not unusual and i dont dope. im african american so maybe that has somethin to do with it yall need to dope black people dont
Depends on how old you are. If you're in high school than 6 minutes. If you're in middle school than 6 and half maybe even seven.
i was a competition level gymnast for 10 years. but now have been "retired" for about 3 years and i just walked a 1 1/2 mile in 21 minutes. ... hope that helps :)
At my school the average times were between four minutes to twenty minutes, most were somewhere in seven to nine minutes though if they ran it. Making the middle 8 minutes
