Lenin was exiled to one of the more agreeable places in Siberia, a small town on the River Lena. At the time he was still Vladimir I. Ulyanov, but his time spent at the River Lena influenced him to adopt the name "Lenin."

When did Lenin go to jail?

Stalin was imprisoned and exiled several time in his life. He was arrested and jailed outside Baku in Bailov Prison in March 1908. Then he was sent into internal exile but escaped. He was recaptured on March 23, 1910 and again locked up in Bailov Prison and again sent into exile. Once again he escaped and went back to St. Petersburg. On September 9, 1910 he was caught a third time, imprisoned and on December 25 sent back into exile. Stalin managed to get away from the town he was exiled to, but on February 23, 1913, he was again arrested and this time sentenced to exile in a particularly disagreeable town in Siberia, which is where he stayed for the next four years until the February Revolution in 1917 toppled the Tsar. With no Tsarist forces to arrest him again, Stalin got on a train back to St. Petersburg.

Who was the worse Lenin or Stalin?

By far Joseph Stalin was worse than Lenin. Stalin sent millions of people to their unjustifiable deaths. Although Lenin was the leader of the soviet revolution he was never in power long enough to be responsible for the shear magnitude of human atrocities committed by Stalin. Lenin, however, was responsible for purging parts of some ethnic and government opposition groups. Stalin was one of Lenin's "enforcers" and would kill innocent people without cause, question, or concern. It was after Lenin's death when Stalin took over and had many high ranking military and revolutionary officer/officials executed. Also, he sent millions of innocent Soviets to Siberia as slaves and work them essentially to their deaths.
