By Season RecordsBy cumulative history, the NFL's newest franchise, the Houston Texans, have the worst historical winning percentage, at .383 (49-79 from 2002-2009)

However, from 2003 to 2009, the team with the worst winning percentage is the Detroit Lions at .250 (28-84) and 0-16 in 2008. The Lions have also never made the NFL playoffs since the 1970 merger of the AFL and NFL

The Lions are only one game behind the OaklandRaiders at .259 (29-83), who have lost 11 games or more in seven straight seasons. Prior to this slump (marked by five coaching changes), the Raiders had won 3 of 5 Super Bowls and had only 7 losing seasons in the preceding 40 years (1963-2002)

By Super BowlsIn terms of failure to win a Super Bowl : Cleveland, Detroit, Jacksonville, and Houston Texans have not been in one, but the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills have 4 Super Bowl losses apiece. (Denver also lost 4, but had wins in 1998 and 1999.)

The NFL team that holds the record for the longest losing streak are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 1976, they lost every game they played that season. Their record is a 26 game losing streak.
