was created for students who wanted to play a new game developed by Walter Camp. The reason for football is a game mixed from two sports. Soccer and rugby. Yale University was the first football team ever.Walter Camp coached and played for that Yale team in the same year.

The above answer is not correct. 'Football' nicknamed: Soccer, has been played in England for seven hundred years. Rugby Football evolved from Football at Rugby College, England. The game crossed the Atlantic and was first played on the North American continent in Canada.

It then traveled south were it was played amongst north-eastern American colleges but in a highly disorganized fashion.

In 1869 Rutgers College, New Jersey became the site of the first organized game in the US. That game was played against Princeton 'and became the common form of play.

Walter Camp of New Haven did not develop the game, but was responsible for introducing two rule changes to it as it continued to be played in the US.
