A player only has up to five fouls from high school up to college, and the NBA allows six fouls before fouling out. A team; however, may foul as many times as they want, granted they have the players to do so.
In my experience, only 5 fouls are allowed per Basketball game. If you have 3, your coach may call a time-out and tell you to be careful. If you have 4 fouls, it is most likely that you will be taken out of the game unless there is not a large amount of time left in the game.
5 fouls are allowed in anything up to and including college. In the NBA, players are allowed 6. Five is the limit in international play.
Stupid question
Three full timeouts and two 30-second timeouts are allowed in high-school basketball.
They made 1961 fouls
Basketball has gone past the times of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. These type of aggressive rivalries were the stuff that people wanted. Now you have way too many fouls. Basketball shouldn't be like hockey, though. Basketball is NOW a little bit of a contact sport.
In baseball there is a 4 foul streak before you are out and if you catch a foul, you are out.
In basketball, players are allowed to commit a total of five fouls before being disqualified from the game.

on player can have up to four fowls if they get 5 they are out of the game, and they are when a player slaps or hitts the other players arms (from hand to shoulder), or when a player blocks another player and moves they feet :-)
In the NBA, you are allowed 6 fouls. After you get the sixth foul, you are out for the rest of the game.
5 fouls is when a Basketball player will be kicked out of a basketball game due to fouling out.
In most leagues it is 5 fouls until you are out. However, in some tournaments they can make up whatever rules they want so any number of fouls. But basically it is 5 fouls. -Kristen (I have played basketball for 6 years)
A team needs to commit 7 fouls in a half to enter the bonus in a basketball game.
