Personal Experiences:
I use whey protein in a shake for breakfast (sometimes but not every single solitary day). I use whey protein as a quick source of protein to balance out a "diabetic carb spike." (Diabetics who monitor their "glucose" levels with a meter will sometimes put maple syrup on a marvelous slice of toast for breakfast. That's too much carbs at one time and is likely to create a "spike" -- i.e., a registration above 150 even to above 200. A tablespoon, maybe two, of whey protein in a glass of clear water will help slow the metabolism of those carbs down and stop a "crash", which is what causes a diabetic to eat another piece of toast right away: THEY FEEL HUNGRY AGAIN RIGHT AWAY!)
I'm a senior citizen; I live a highly sedentary life because I am disabled so constipation is an issue. And, all proteins are constipating. It is best to "fix" your mind in this way: (a) Eat no protein without a comparable serving of good vegetables: broccoli, celery, carrots, squash and so on, do not eat fruit for this purpose -- not so much corn, and, (b) drink plain water, at least 6-8 glasses a day. VEGETABLES & WATER GO TOGETHER WITH PROTEIN FOR A GOOD NUTRITION EXPERIENCE. You will be able to defacate in a desirable manner with bulk in your stool.
