I don't know exactly what the question is asking, but the U.S. Army's requirement for basic training is to run a mile in 8 minutes and 30 seconds (a requirement which I consider quite demanding).

THE ABOVE IS NOT ENTIRELY ACCURATE. I WAS IN THE U.S. ARMY AND THE REQUIREMTNS VARY FROM PERSON TO PERSON. YOUR AGE IS THE PRIME FACTOR IN DETERMINING HOW MUCH TIME YOU HAVE. I WAS 19, AND I HAD ALMOST 18 MINUTES TO FINISH 2 MILES. JUST THE NEXT YEAR, I WAS MOVED UP A BRACKET WHERE I HAD 18:54 TO FINISH. I HAVE BEEN IN THIS BRACKET FOR A WHILE.. AS YOU CAN SEE I WAS ALOTTED 9.5 MINUTES PER MILE... ALOT OF TIME. MALES DIFFER TO, THEY GET LESS TIME ALL AROUND.

Usually, it would range from 11-13 minutes.
