I wouldn't say they should, but they can. Anyone who wants to lead a healthy life, can start working out right from the age of around 15 yrs.
i dont think that age matters im 13 about 190 and can bench my weight i think it all depends on weather or not your ready physicaly. I`m also thirteen and can bench 100kg. I`m about 75kg, not fat.

Of course a 15 year old girl should lift weights! If you are not very athletic, then I suggest you start out with REALLY LIGHT WEIGHTS. Test a light weight, see if you can lift it at least 10 to 15 times. If it's too easy, move up. Too hard, go down. You'll work your way up. And if your worried about bulking up, don't be. It's physically impossible for that to happen without steroids. You will be able to lift the same amount as boys, but your muscles will take up less space. Actually, if you lift weights, you will actually have a really hot body, and still look like you can kick somebody's butt. So, yeah. Lift weights.
A teenager CAN lift weights of 7 kilograms MAXIMUM. If a teenager lifts heavier weights, it may affect their growth. For example, my cousin has 13 years old, she's a girl, and lifts weights of 6kilograms each.... so yeah, it's not really affective in that case. But if a teenager (13-16 years old) lifts MORE than that, it will affect they're growth. Plus, I recommend that the minimum age of lifting heavier weights is when they are 17 years old or older. Especially boys, that always want to be like, stronger and good-looking when they're lifting weights.
:) Hope this helps!
Most experts would say, "probably not." If you have good coaching and do not do heavy singles, you may not injure yourself. In addition to playing sports for all-around coordination, agility, and fitness, why not use your bodyweight for training? For example, as a youngster without equipment growing up in Czechoslovakia, the outstanding hockey player Jaromir Jagr regularly used to do 5 sets of 200 squats! If you think even doing 1 set of 200 squats without additional weight is easy, just try it! You could also do pull-ups, push-ups, crunches, and so on with a lot less risk to your joints than using barbells or dumbbells.
If they want to lift weights it's perfectly fine. It's not like smoking, in Weightlifting you can start at any age ;)
Yes, weight lifting provides a variety of benefits. Make sure you're doing it correctly though, as it can be easy to get hurt. But in terms of stunting your growth, it's a myth.
