Endurance horseback riding is a sport within the equine world based upon very long distance racing. In endurance riding, the horse and rider travel a set course that is often a hundred miles long or more through wilderness. The horse and rider must train consistently and persistently to be in peak physical shape before starting the race, and there are vet checks throughout the race to ensure the horses are not injured or ill.
It varies by the horse, but they do well in dressage, jumping of all types, eventing, and endurance.
You can't give a horse anything to boost its endurance. The only way to boost a horse's endurance is to train it. You can boost its strength, or its speed, but not stamina or endurance. That is only acheived by training and good food.

Wrestling is a great example of an organized sport that has a lot of muscular endurance. A few of my friends that wrestle say that it is one of the most difficult, endurance requiring sports they have experienced.
strength endurance is also another factor, enduring a specific load for a specific time.
