There are different levels of blackbelt.

You start off as a First Dan, then go to second, third up to tenth.

Traditional Japanese and Okinawan Martial Arts indicate a 7th and 8th degree black belt with a white and red belt, while 9th and 10th are a solid red belt.

Different levels of black belt. Most martial arts go up to 10th Degree black belt. It takes decades of training to reach that proficiency, typically not awarded to anyone under the age of 65.
