i'd have to say the Baseball would be better Signed baseballs are worth more than signed photos, and cards. Baseballs are the most common, and preferred by collectors because of it's connection to the game, low cost, availability and it displays the signature well. The display of the signature is the key to value. For example: Find a magazine photo about the size of a baseball card (2 1/2' x 3 /1/2') that would represent a baseball card or photograph, and a white sheet of paper, that will represent a baseball. Most Autographs were signed with a fountain pen back in Ruth's day so now take a pen, and sign your name on the magazine photo. Now sign your name on the white piece of paper. As you will see, that the white paper (baseball) displays your signature much better. The signature on the magazine photo (baseball card) doesn't stand out as well in contrast to the background. Which would you pay more for? The baseball is also more desired for the signature because of it's connection to the game. A photo can sell as high as a baseball (in some cases) if the signature stand out well in contrast to the photo, and make for a great display.
