Drew Brees

Through the 2008 season, two. Dan Marino with 5,084 in 1984 and Drew Brees with 5,069 in 2008.

Then in the 2011 season Tom Brady threw for 5,235 (not counting playoffs), Matthew Stafford threw for 5,038 (not counting playoffs), and Drew Brees lit up for a record setting 5,476 (not counting playoffs). Honorable mention: Eli Manning threw for 4,933 (not counting playoffs).

With so many quarterbacks obliterating the old mark set by Dan Marino you could argue that recent rule changes have greatly worked for the advantage of NFL quarterbacks.
