A "sand Iron" is a golf club (iron) designed to hit a golf ball out of a sand trap or bunker.
A 5 Iron, or middle iron, is generally used for an average distance 170 yards for an average golfer.
8 iron should travel around 185 yards for professionals
I enjoyed it.The Astronaut who played golf on the moon hit two shots, one was a one handed six iron which he shanked, the other a one handed six iron which he hit 350 yards!
No, a 5 iron would hit the ball about 180 where as a wedge about 125. Depends who is hitting it.
tiger woods 225 yards average 160
About 170 with his 9 iron, it was unbelievable
The reason a one iron is so hard to hit is because it has such little loft on it, which makes it hard to get the ball airbourne and also have any control over it. Even though a 3 wood would have less loft, they are designed with the centre of gravity in the best place to get the bair in the air and also give you moderate control.
A one handed 6 iron, it went 300 yards.
About 150 yards. Remember you can hit a golf ball out of most major league parks with an 8 iron.
You can hit a golf ball with a golf club.
A big chunky Callaway, then Ping, then Taylormade.
