There are many factors that determine the salary of a camera operator. 1) The collective bargaining agreement of the Union that represents the workers 2) The number of games that they work, the type of game, ( Playoff , Supperbowl) ---- NFL camera operators shooting for local, regional or national broadcasts range from $350 to $500 per game for usually 10 hour days. Many are freelance operators who will contract multi-game packages for the season. Per Diem, lodging, travel and overtime are usually mandatory and often union membership is required such as NABET or IBEW. Most NFL camera operators are the best in the television industry with many years experience usually in news and other sports. Very successful operators can overall make 6 figure salaries when including other television and video production work. This type of work is very competitive and difficult to break into.
