The dart boards at Lakeside and the other main events tend to be made of coco nutapparently. But, the cheaper ones are mostly made of coiled paper
There are also dartboards made of wood. They are called a Log End Dartboard, and is still used in 55 leagues in and around Manchester mainly, comprising some 10,000 players. The board is black and has a substantially smaller playing area, 10" compared to the standard 13.25", and must be stored in water to avoid it from cracking. They are also more expensive than a standard board, the Winmau Blade 4 retails for around £29.99 whereas it's difficult to find a log board for under £50.
