There are also dartboards made of wood. They are called a Log End Dartboard, and is still used in 55 leagues in and around Manchester mainly, comprising some 10,000 players. The board is black and has a substantially smaller playing area, 10" compared to the standard 13.25", and must be stored in water to avoid it from cracking. They are also more expensive than a standard board, the Winmau Blade 4 retails for around £29.99 whereas it's difficult to find a log board for under £50.
