Gene Gaines was a Canadian Football League player with the Montreal Alouettes and Ottawa Rough Riders. He played in 217 games during his 16 year career, 161 of them consecutive. He was a three time CFL All Star defensive back, played on four Grey Cup winning teams, and was elected to the CFL Hall of Fame in 1994.

Brett MacNeil is a former CFL Offensive Lineman who played for Ottawa 91, Winnipeg 92-97/99-02, Edmonton 98. MacNeil played in 3 Grey Cups and was a CFL All-Star in 2001. Coached in college at BU by Tony Sparano.
The two teams that come from Alberta are the Calgary Stampeders and the Edmonton Eskimos.
