Just a King and a Bishop alone are not enough provided material to be able to finish the game through means of checkmate. Upon entering a position where you only have a King and a Bishop, and your opponent as well does not have sufficient material; the game will immediately be considered a draw.

Is it possible to win a chess game with a Castle and a King?

It's possible to win a chess game with any set or number of pieces

If king is the last piece on the board is it tie?

Yes, that situation is called a stalemate, which results in a tie. A king is not permitted to move into check, In fact even if in addition to the king there are pawns on the board which are blocked and have no move to make it will be a stalemate, because the only piece able to move would be the king.

How do you stalemate with king bishop vs king?

If a player still has a pawn, this pawn can be promoted to a greater piece (Queen, Bishop, Rook, or Knight -- usually the Queen is chosen) and, if the queen or rook is chosen, this means a win for the player starting with the pawn. Stalemate only occurs if the pawn is captured by the opponent before it can be promoted. Also, if a player is left with only a king and knight, or only a king and bishop, and the opponent only has a king, or a king with either (a bishop or knight), in these situations, it is impossible to bring the opponent to checkmate. Only with the king and a rook or (obviously) with the king and a queen, can checkmate be accomplished.

Is it possible to win a game of chess with just a castle and a king?

It is impossible to win, as your king can never checkmate another king alone. You will either draw or lose. Draws occur from insuficcient material and stalemate. Losses occur when the opponent checkmates you.

What is the difference in mate and checkmate?

A checkmate in chess is when the king is checked and has no where to go. A stalemate is when the king is not in check and has nowhere to go and his other pieces(if any) also have no where to go. A stalemate is considered a draw. A checkmate occurs when a player's King is in danger of being captured by the other player's very next move and either the other player cannot move the king to a safe square, or cannot move one of his other pieces to block the capture or move one of his other pieces to capture the threatening piece. Checkmate ends the game with a win for the player checkmating the other player. Stalemate occurs when one player's king is not in check but the only legal move the king can make puts the king in check. Stalemate also ends the game but it counts as a draw.

What is a draw in chess called?

There are several situations: Automatic, Agreed upon, Claimed and upheld, Stalemate 1. Automatic Draw: a) If the pieces left are king against king; king against king with only a bishop or knight; or king and bishop against king and bishop, with both bishops on the same colored diagonal b) When a player has only a bare king and the other player oversteps his time, a draw is declared. 2. Agreed upon: The players can agree to a draw for any reasons they choose. 3. Claimed and upheld: a) A player may claim a draw if the position of the pieces is the same for 3 moves. b) A player having the move can claim a draw if it is shown that the last 50 moves have been made by each side without capture of any piece or movement of a pawn. An arbiter reviews the claim and if correct, a draw will be declared. 4. Stalemate When the king of the player having the move is not in check but cannot move his king without placing it in check. Strictly speaking a stalemate is not part of the draw rules but it has the same effect, neither a win nor loss for either side. And it is a draw to be called when the king left only and it can't checkmated by the other player for about 16 moves.

How can you win at chess?

Who wins in a stale mate?

In ChessA stalemate is a condition in which neither side can win, and so it is when it ends a game of chess. If the player to move cannot make any move without putting his king into check (jeopardy of being taken) and the King is not already in check, it's called a "stalemate." It's considered a tie game.Stalemate has also become a widely used metaphor for other situations where there is a conflict or contest between two parties, such as war or political negotiations, and neither side is able to achieve victory, resulting in what is also called a dead heat, standoff, or deadlock. In this usage, unlike in chess, "stalemate" often refers to a temporary impasse that may ultimately be resolved.

Who would win in a game of chess Chuck Norris or Voldemort?

It would probably end in a tie or stalemate. Voldemort could get 9 queens with magic, Chuck could punch him for cheating, Voldemort uses avada kedavra, Chuck's wounded, eventually they both die, with king vs king and no other pieces.

Do you have to trap a king in order to Win?

Yes. In the game of chess, the only way to win is to trap the king so that no move can be made to save it.

What is the definition of stalement?

A stalemate is a situation where no one can win. Both sides that are competing against each other are at an impasse. There can be no further movement. This term is used often in the game chess, but in life people will refer to an argument or a situation as being in a stalemate because there can be no further progress in the discussion.
