Starting pitchers were Mark Mulder for the Cardinals and Tomo Ohka for the Brewers. Mulder got the win and Jason Isringhausen got the save. Bill Hall of the Brewers hit the first home run. The first regular season at the 'old' Busch Stadium was played May 12, 1966. The Cardinals beat the Braves 4-3 in 12 innings. Ray Washburn started for the Cardinals and Wade Blasingame started for the Braves. Don Dennis was the winning pitcher and Phil Niekro was the losing pitcher. Felipe Alou of the Braves hit the first home run.
