The very first Auburn head coach to coach in the NFL was John Francis "Jack" Meagher. He coached at Auburn from 1934-1942, compiling a 48-37-10 overall record.
In 1946 Meagher became the head coach of the Miami Seahawks where he went 1-6 before being replaced by Hamp Pool for the remaining 7 games. The team, ah==having accrued over $350,000 in debt in their inaugural season were folded y the AAFC in 1947 after just one season of play.
The Seahawks were a member team of the All American Football Conference (AAFC). Technically the Seahawks were not part of the NFL, but since the NFL eventually accepted three AAFC teams into the league, all AAFC records and statistics have been included in the history of the NFL.
in 1948 another former Auburn head coach, Carl Voyles also joined the AAFC as the head coach of the Brooklyn Dodgers (not affiliated with either the former NFL Dodgers {1930-1943} or the MLB team). His Dodgers finished 2-11, placing last in their division. The team folded after the 1948 season and merged with the AAFC NY Yankees and became known as the Brooklyn-New York Dodgers (AAFC 1948-1949),
