No, they aren't... They are made by the company "Battle Tested" (not Ben Tippmann). However the Tippmann 98 and BT 4 are nearly internally identical.

Proto paintball is the sister company of Dye Precision. Their gear is extremely similar to Dye products and is targeted to new players just getting involved in paintball who do not have large budgets. However, you will see Proto gear being used throughout all levels of recreational and competitive paintball.
JT, Brass Eagle, and WGP are all owned by the same company. I'm not sure who owns who but my guess is that Brass Eagle owns the others since it's been out longer.
