The franchise now known as the Pittsburgh Steelers entered the NFL in 1933 as the Pittsburgh Pirates. On Wednesday, September 7th, 1933, Marvin "Butch" Kottler became the first Pittsburgh player to score a touchdown when he intercepted a pass at Pittsburgh's 1 yard line and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown against the Chicago Cardinals (who later moved to St. Louis, and then Arizona).
