Actually its Lacrosse. By a long shot. professional lacrosse players make 10-30 thousand a year. pretty crappy pay for being a pro. most of them have a second or third job to support themselves.

The least popular sports tend to pay the least. For example, the MLS Soccer League, the main soccer league in America, is becoming very un-popular, and salaries aren't very high at all for the players.

Actually, if your talking about football, Baseball, Basketball, and hockey, they are all relatively close in payroll, ranging from about $250 million down to about $500,000 yearly. So there is no distinction
