Both were around 16.2 hands.
SECRETARIAT!!!!! Actually Man O' War is the #1 Horse of the 20th Century, Secretariat is #2
it has been tested... when man o war raced the dirt slowed him down by five seconds and when secretariat raced the sand/dirt made them go faster. and secretariats time was only 2 seconds faster then man o wars... but if you put the dirt into the equatuion then MAN O WAR becomes alot fast. in the end man o war was a much faster and better horse and not to metionm the fast throughbred of all time Most experts agree that Secretariat was faster than Man O War. If one looks at times for distance, it is not even close. On equal tracks, Secretariat still wins by several lengths at any distance.
Secretariat never ran a match race. You may be thinking of Seabiscuit, who defeated War Admiral.
Man O' War and Secretariat were called Big Red- its easy to remember they both won the Kentucky Derby
No. It's a matter of opinion, of course, but if you look at times for distance, Secretariat ran faster than Man O War.
Yes, He is related to Fair Play, the sire of Man O' War. Fair Play was Secretariat's great-great-grandsire, and Seabiscuit's great-grandsire. Secretariat was a great-grand-nephew of Man O' War -- his sire Bold Ruler was out of a mare named Miss Disco, who was by Discovery, who was by Display, who was by Fair Play. Display was a half-brother to Man O' War. Seabiscuit was a grandson of Man O' War -- his sire Hard Tack was by Man O' War, and his dam Tea Biscuit was by Rock Sand, who was also the sire of Man O' War's dam Mahubah. So Man O' War was also Seabiscuit's cousin, in a convoluted way. Man of War was War Admiral's Sire.
Secretariat's stride was measured at nearly 25 feet. This one of the longest ever recorded,Man O' War was also measured at that distance.Secretariat was probably the greatest thoroughbred ever.
No doubt, Man o' War was a great race horse. However, in my mind, Secretariat is the greatest race horse of all time. I remember jumping up and down when I was a teenager watching him race and screaming when he won the Triple Crown. When he won the third leg of the Triple Crown, the Belmont States, he beat the field by 22 lengths! Everyone should watch that video. If you love to watch horses run, it's something to behold. I think if they had ever met, it would have been one heck of a race; but I do think Secretariat would have won that race.
1. Man O' War. Tb stallion clocked at 63mph. none come close my opinain for the rest 2. Ruffian 3. Seabiscuit 4. Secretariat Man 'o War's speed for distance is nowhere near Secretariat. Ruffian nor Seabiscuit, although great horses in their own right, could not have beaten Secretariat. He owns the record in all three Triple Crown Races. Also, Man o War was never clocked at such a speed. If you check the two horses times for distance, Secretariat wins easily in each distance.
No the horse(s) that played Secretariat are chestnut. Whilst Joey is a bay, two different colors. But one of the horses in War Horse did play Seabiscuit.
