People who compete in the Olympics play all kinds of sports against other countries to try and win gold medals. This is like a huge competition.
204 countries in 302 events from 26 sports and 39 disciplines with over 10,0000 athletes winning 962 Medals including 302 Gold Medals 304 Silver Medals and 356 Bronze Medals
For all of the countries to do all the sports in the Olympics there has to be a certain amount of them in the team. However it is possible for a country to participate in all of the sports. Some of the countries this year only have a couple of players so no. All of the countries in the Olympics do not do all sports.
There are 98 events for which medals will be awarded.
From the official ticket brochure: 19 days of competition 10500 athletes 26 different sports 205 countries represented 302 gold medals up for grabs
There is a total of 26 sports 39 disciplines and 302 medals.

diving china won 25 gold medals
No there 10 athletes did not win any medals in the 7 sports they competed in.
Nobody "wins" the Olympics. Michael Phelps certainly dominated, claiming 8 gold medals to set the record for most golds in an olympic games. But the Olympics contain many different sports, events, etc. so you may win one section but you cannot "win" the Olympics. *Note: Countries do 'win' the Olympics based on who has the most medals, etc.
Rowdy Gaines.
