You can start taking skating lessons at any age. There are toddlers that skate, and grandparents that skate.
I would start by finding the rinks in your area. Then see if any of them have clubs or skating schools. Start by taking group lessons, see if you like it first. Then continue on the private lessons if you want to become a little more serious, Good luck.

Until you get into serious competition, these are excellent skates. You did not mention your age (very wise) but given the fact that you are taking lessons for ice skating and will be taking figure skating lessons, you are a young person. Skates are like shoes...you grow out of them. So even though the boots have plastic heels, they are still excellent boots until you need new ones. Depending on your age, you will probably need new boots about every 6-9 months, considering your growth rate. So the serious competition boots aren't necessary until you actually start in competitions. Relax and have fun with your new vocation!
