The best hockey player ever would be Wayne Gretzky (I agree! My friend hates his little brother because he was born the day Wayne retired!) hands down. He dominated the league, and nearly every stat in it for years. He's set insane amounts of records, that still stand and no one is coming close to them at the moment.

To give light to the situation, he is nearly 1000 points ahead of everyone. Points are awarded by scoring goals and making assists. An outstanding player can get 100 points a season, while he scored way more than that.

Other notables would be: Bobby Orr (the best defenceman of all time) Gordie Howe, Mark Messier, Steve Yzerman, Mario Lemieux, Maurice Richard
