* ABOUT THE ANSWER ABOVE *
It is a MYTH. Well, maybe it is real in Kilometres per hour, but The fastest ever recorded fastball is between the high seventies and low eighties in MPH. any official source will tell you so. and for those of you that compare to Baseball, the fastest pitch in baseball was 105 mph. now sorry, but if you are talking about the fastest softball pitcher, it was necessary to bring in the fastest baseball pitcher. His name is Aroldis Chapman, he pitched 105 mph and several pitches all over 102 mph there after.
--GO STUDY UP AND DO NOT JUST DEPEND ON THE ANSWERS FROM HERE--
because even though the answer about baseball is right, you still shouldn't depend on this because the previous answer about softball is wrong, extremely wrong.

In softball, the ball is bigger. Baseball pitchers pitch the ball overhand while softball pitchers pitch underhand. Baseball is more of a boys sport and softball is generally more for girls.
The fastest softball pitch ever recored was from a 18 year old girl from Texas at the speed of 95!!
A baseball is smaller than a softball, and a softball is made of softer material (hence the name). Pro baseball players get on ESPN, become famous and make millions. Pro softball players get on ESPN2 at 1 in the morning and no one knows their names.

There are several online websites that sell training videos for softball pitchers. Youtube also offers some good softball training videos.

on it's way as it leaves the hand. It can be a lot less in speed as it crosses the plate. A faster fast ball is easier to hit because it does not change height and direction much which means the hitter should swing into the ball with better contact. The best pitchers are the ones that can throw change ups and curves and when he throws fast balls , he is better if he can spot them just at the edge of the plate.
No they are the same as any normal softball player playing there position
