Pulled muscles are the most likely, especially in the legs or groin. This is usually caused by insufficient stretching. Torn muscles are also a possibility, though chances are much lower.
Broken points are a factor, especially in sparring. Usually this happens to forearms or shins.
Knee problems are a factor due to impacts, though shoulder and wrist problems can also be a factor when doing submissions.
