Well, first you have to already be in gymnastics. Probably for at least a year. During this time, you will develop the minimum skills require to be on the level 4 (or in some gyms level 3) team which is the entry-level for competition. These skills require a round-off backhand spring on floor, a back and front hip circle on bars, a hand stand and dismount on the beam, an expression of good grace and form on each and possibly more. Your gym will have try-outs rather you know it or not. The coaches closely watch each gymnast and the ones that prove themselves to potentially be capable of doing well in competitions will be selected to be on the team.
Well, if you were doing it at home then you could go on you tube and type in level 3 gymnastics music but if you were doing it at a proper gymnastics then you could get it off of eBay or amazon.
to get you ready for the higher skills. you can't to a round off with out being able to do a cartwheel.
It's like a cartwheel, but you land facing the way you came from, with both feet together.
A dismount is just getting off of a horse.
if you get off a horse it is called dismount!
Bars/ jump from the low bar to high bar. you need a back hip circle and a baby giant. Vault/ you need a front hand spring. Floor/ you need a round off to back hand spring. Also a front hand spring step out to round off back hand spring. For Beam/ you need cartwheel straight jump and a back walk over. and a full turn. Thats all
