Ice skates are sports equipment. They are used in hockey, figure skating and speed skating.
Ice is used to make food cold(ice packs),heals cuts(depends how severe it is),and sometimes even for science experiments. Also ice is used for hockey, skating, and figure skating.
Katerina Witt of the former East Germany won gold in Ladies Figure Skating at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games.
At school it is compulsory that we wear the right uniforn. or in certain matters it could be figure skating
The old scoring system is not used anymore.
It's a split mix of hockey and dance (ballet specifically). Basically, girls used to do ballet, and some girls did hockey on ice. They finally created figure skating by combining the two, using the "on ice" in the hockey part, and the dancing in the ballet.
Yes, I have been skated many times.I take private lessons. My figure skating level is Alpha.Next week I will be tested.I think you should try figure skating. It is a lot of fun, but a lot of work, so be prepared.
Actually it takes alot of algebra, geometry, physics, science, etc. The formula for the edge you take off of for a triple jump is y=3.14x+80^3 divided by the temperature of the ice cubed. When you go to other rinks for competitions or tests you have to research these things so you know what formulas to use for your elemnts in your program. Oh, and don't forget the edge on your spins are affected by the gravitational pull of the moon in whatever region/country/state you are skating in, and the exact tiltation of the earth's axis at the time and place you are skating at, so you have to take all these facts into consideration when skating in a new place. So you see, figure skating isn't all about frills and dresses and sparkles and grace. You have to have major brains too. And I am a figure skater myself. (just kidding! all it takes is hard work, natural talent, perserverance, and self discipline. the movie about the math geek who used her brains to be a figure skater was just major bull crap. sorry for wasting your time and writing all of this but its just funny!)
You have to be 16 years old to teach figure skating. But you must also have to pass the level/test that you want to teach for example if i was on intermitted i can't teach senior move in the field or freestyle. If you just want to learn, there is no limit to how old you must be! Find a class for adults or children and get started. I hope i helped :)
She used to be involved in competative figure skating and played on the CECI field hockey team in high school.
