it is showboating and they can get in trouble for it. they also passed new laws about tackling the qb.
football is the child of rugby. When you score in rugby you would have to touch the ball down to the ground, hence the word touchdown.
The goal of football is to move the ball down the field and into the end zone for a touchdown.
Yes. Placement is always determined by where the ball is when the player goes down.
you cant tackle the other person and you cant throw it:).
In the earliest days of American football, a "touchdown" required that the ball physically touch the ground beyond the goal line. This requirement was removed from the rules in 1889, but the name stuck.
American football is derived from an English game called Rugby Union. In Rugby the equivalent to a touch down is called a try. To score a try you have to "touch the ball down" on the ground.
When a ball rolls down a hill, its potential energy is converted into heat energy (while its movement is slowed down through friction). Considernig ONLY the First Law, this process could also happen in reverse.
It depends on if the kicking team player was 10 yards past the line of scrimmage and also on whether it was a punt or kick off. If it was a kick off and the player was 10 yards past the line of scrimmage, then it would be a touchdown. If the player was not 10 yards past the line of scrimmage, then it is a penalty. If it is a punt the ball is placed where the player hit the ball.
down
"Down".
....Page 776 of the Rules Digest in the NFL Fact Book reads: "A player with the ball in his possession scores a touchdown when the ball is on, above, or over the goal line". That's been the rule since 1889. Originally, the ball had to be literally touched down to the ground in the end zone for the score to count (rugby still has that rule). After the rule change, breaking the plane was all that was required.
All touchdowns are worth six points. It doesn't matter how the touchdown is scored, via a pass, a run, or on a kickoff or punt return. After the touchdown, the scoring team receives a "point after touchdown" attempt for one or two extra points.
