As of October 2023, only one team has entered the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament with an unbeaten record and subsequently lost in the tournament: the 1991 UNLV Runnin' Rebels. They finished the regular season and conference play at 34-0 but lost in the Final Four to Duke. Other teams have entered the tournament unbeaten, but UNLV remains the most notable case of a team losing after such a strong start.
