Coaches are ALWAYS looking for someone who's willing to work HARD and willing to improve. they want to see if you have potential; you don't necessarily have to be super-great the first time around (though it does help to practice beforehand). Try doing shooting drills, such as around the world or knock-out... this gives you a taste of the competetive atmosphere in real games. It is IMPOSSIBLE to make the team without knowing how to dribble with your left AND right hand without looking up. Stamina is KEY. Run, run, and RUN. Basketball is a game which requires a ton of energy, and generally coaches will check to see if you can withstand running a few laps without losing too much energy. Also, keep a positive, team friendly, attitude. If you don't make the team, stay positive and think about training and planning for next year's tryouts. The coach will DEFINITELY notice your willingness to make changes and improve for his team, and it will make him/her feel proud to have someone who wants to be on THEIR team so badly.
