Most high school and college cheerleaders are between the ages of fourteen and twenty-four, but there are exceptions. Some middle schools now have organized cheerleading too, which means some of the cheerleaders might be as young as ten or eleven. To make the cheerleading squad at most schools, you have to try out, and you have to demonstrate whatever skills the school expects from their cheerleaders. You will then be expected to attend practices and work with your coach to provide the school with the best cheerleading possible.

it got started in the 90s because girls/boys who didnt make there school cheer squad or whoever just wasnt old enough to be in hs could be in an all star team and that's how it got started!
