I am on pointes and I am twelve. I'm in grade 5 ballet. But i do an extra class called Inter Foundation, which helped us to get enough strength to go on pointe in Grade 4. So you should probably wait until either your teacher says or until you are in Grade 5/6
It's not really about your age, it's about how good you are at ballet, your age doesn't really matter. It is quite challenging but it depends on how well you do at ballet and if you have been through the other grades.
you can buy it from the dance shop 'BLOCH'. you can also get a copy of the DVD there too. =]
See I did ballet from the ages of 2-11 then stopped my lessons, after completing a grade 4 exam. I then carried on doing tap, modern and ballroom dancing. I wish to take up ballet again. What standard should I get lessons at? Go back to grade 5, or because of all my other experience go higher?
American Ballet Theatre, the Pennsylvania Ballet, The Kirov Ballet and the Bolshoi Ballet
There are 8 ballet grades but there is also pointe work in grade 5 and up (although some start in grade 4), so if some one asks you, you could say that there are 8 or 12 because when you are in grade 5 up you have the poite work exams as well. The Pointe work levels are: Intermediate Foundation Intermediate Advanced Foundation Advanced 1 Advanced 2
