In order to get on pointe you have to have strong feet because you want to be on the box of your shoe. To do that, you should strengthen those muscles by doing exercises for example using a theraband and just pointing and flexing.
Going on pointe without specially made pointe shoes can seriously damage your toes; it can easily break them, dislocate them and cause growth defects.Although, if you just want to try, you can pull yourself up onto pointe using a pull-up bar- but DO NOT put any weight on your toes.
You can injure yourself if you are not properly trained. You should only be en pointe if you are a serious ballerina. If you are not, you probably shouldn't be en pointe. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Depending on the studio you're at, pre-pointe is either preparing your body physically for pointe using regular shoes, or using Demi Pointe shoes. Pointe Prep is to strenghten your ankles, and body. It is the time for teachers to corect sickleing, how you hold yourself, ETC. It usally takes a year to go through pointe prep, (I know because I've been through it myself, I am on pointe) but somtimes it takes longer or shorter. Usually if you haven't gone through your big growthspirt yet you may not get your pointe shoes as soon as you like becasue the teachers don't want you to go through one and end up hurting yourself whenyou are on pointe
hey! if you go en pointe without being told to by a ballet instructor or/and a dance phsyiotherapist you will most likely injure yourself. going en pointe can be a wonderful or horrible experience. if you take the time to strengthen your legs, ankles, feet and core then you will get en pointe and stay en pointe without injury's. if you go en pointe just because it looks cool and you haven't actually made yourself ready then you could break an ankle, break a toe, damage your knees and completely ruin your feet and dance Carrier for life. you cant replace broken feet. if you want to get en pointe then talk to your dance teacher about pre pointe and maybe you and her can arrange something XD hope i helped!
if you are about to or are teaching yourself pointe work, stop! pointe work is for people with years of ballet training and 1 - 2 years of pre pointe or strengthening classes. like all things to do with ballet, you need to have a trained teacher to guide you through the proses and correct you when you go astray. pointe is dangerous enough as it is so tyring it without a proper teacher is going to be dangerous, recluse and down right stupid! nobody can teach themselves pointe. if they do they will ruin their feet and probably break something along the way. hope i helped!
It is possible to teach yourself how to do pointe, but the real reason ballet teachers don't put you on pointe when you want is because it is extremely dangerous to your body especially your ankles. You are never 'too heavy' for pointe. This is because you are keeping yourself up there not the shoes. The shoes help but the main thing is to have strength in your calfs and thighs as well as the ability to use the core of your body. If you can do this then you can do pointe. The best thing to do is to ask your ballet instructor if she/he thinks you are ready.

Pointe shoes are for pointe. ANSWER 2 Hi, Demi-pointe shoes are used so that you can experience the sensations of pointe shoes without going on pointe. THEY ARE NOT FOR GOING ON POINTE IN! If you are only wearing demi-pointe shoes then your instructor obviously does not feel you ankles are strong enough for pointe work yet. If you do this then you face the chance of never being able to go on pointe because you have damaged you feet. So stick to demi pointe shoes for demi pointe and wait a while until your ankles are strong enough to go on pointe! PS you should never go on pointe before you are 12 as research has shown that the joints etc. in your feet have not fully developed!
Practice streching your feet every day and hold your pointe for at least 1 minute to help your arches and get stronger feet. In practice, try your hardest and have fun!
