if you are about to or are teaching yourself pointe work, stop! pointe work is for people with years of Ballet training and 1 - 2 years of pre pointe or strengthening classes. like all things to do with ballet, you need to have a trained teacher to guide you through the proses and correct you when you go astray. pointe is dangerous enough as it is so tyring it without a proper teacher is going to be dangerous, recluse and down right stupid! nobody can teach themselves pointe. if they do they will ruin their feet and probably break something along the way.

hope i helped!

Can you teach yourself Pointe Work Ballet?

It is possible to teach yourself how to do pointe, but the real reason ballet teachers don't put you on pointe when you want is because it is extremely dangerous to your body especially your ankles. I know several people you went on pointe when they weren't ready and now they can hardy walk let alone dance. To tell if your ankles are strong enough to start pointe work is by an x-rayIf the doctor says it is safe to start on pointe you can teach yourself by videos.GOOD LUCK!!!

Can you teach yourself to dance ballet on pointe and how?

No, you really cannot! It is dangerous and you need lots of ballet experience, and an experienced and talented ballet teacher to teach you. Please do not attempt to teach yourself, even if you have gathered lots of information!

How do you go on pointe without pointe shoes?

Going on pointe without specially made pointe shoes can seriously damage your toes; it can easily break them, dislocate them and cause growth defects.Although, if you just want to try, you can pull yourself up onto pointe using a pull-up bar- but DO NOT put any weight on your toes.

Do pointe shoes need to be broken in or can you buy prebroken in shoes such as gaynor minden for comfort and durability?

No, you need to break in your pointe shoes yourself. Anaheim Ballet offers a video on breaking in pointe shoes. Just type Anaheim Ballet The Point, or just type in breaking in pointe shoes and videos should pop up based on that. Shutting your pointe shoes in a door helps. Good luck!
