Depending on the studio you're at, pre-pointe is either preparing your body physically for pointe using regular shoes, or using Demi Pointe shoes.

Pointe Prep is to strenghten your ankles, and body. It is the time for teachers to corect sickleing, how you hold yourself, ETC. It usally takes a year to go through pointe prep, (I know because I've been through it myself, I am on pointe) but somtimes it takes longer or shorter. Usually if you haven't gone through your big growthspirt yet you may not get your pointe shoes as soon as you like becasue the teachers don't want you to go through one and end up hurting yourself whenyou are on pointe

Are demi pointe shoes safe?

Hi, Demi-Pointe shoes are safe as long as they are used correctly! They are not to be used to go on pointe in, demi-pointe shoes are designed to allow budding ballet dancers who are strengthening their ankles to experience the sensation of pointe shoes!

Can you teach pointe to yourself?

if you are about to or are teaching yourself pointe work, stop! pointe work is for people with years of ballet training and 1 - 2 years of pre pointe or strengthening classes. like all things to do with ballet, you need to have a trained teacher to guide you through the proses and correct you when you go astray. pointe is dangerous enough as it is so tyring it without a proper teacher is going to be dangerous, recluse and down right stupid! nobody can teach themselves pointe. if they do they will ruin their feet and probably break something along the way. hope i helped!

What grade in ballet do you get pointe shoes?

It can vary depending on where you live, how your grading system works and which dance school you go to. Mainly, you start pointe-work at grade 5 and carry on through grade 6, plus any more grades after that if you are still dancing.

Can you do pointe with demi pointe shoes?

It is physically possible...BUT... do not do it. It can break toes, feet, and possibly mess up tendens and muscles in the process. It also hurts. If you want to go onto pointe then you need to buy a real pair of pointe shoes. They are usually cheaper online. NO! DO NOT TRY THIS! This can break your feet. Demi pointe shoes are for demi pointe. Pointe shoes are for pointe. ANSWER 2 Hi, Demi-pointe shoes are used so that you can experience the sensations of pointe shoes without going on pointe. THEY ARE NOT FOR GOING ON POINTE IN! If you are only wearing demi-pointe shoes then your instructor obviously does not feel you ankles are strong enough for pointe work yet. If you do this then you face the chance of never being able to go on pointe because you have damaged you feet. So stick to demi pointe shoes for demi pointe and wait a while until your ankles are strong enough to go on pointe! PS you should never go on pointe before you are 12 as research has shown that the joints etc. in your feet have not fully developed!

How much training in ballet should you have before starting pre-pointe?

its not necessarily the training so much as its how strong your muscles are, mainly your ankle muscles
