Great question. I haven't found a record of this happening, but just last week (5/5/10), two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum struck out every opposing Marlin (except the pitcher's spot) by the fifth inning, getting 13 K's in the game.
I have to assume Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, or Roger Clemens did this, but it would have to be at least a nine strikeout game, obviously. And going back in history, Grover Alexander, Walter Johnson, Steve Carlton, Bob Gibson, J.R. Richard would be some names I'd think of.
That was California Angels first baseman Joe Rudi. Guidry struckout every batter in the Angels lineup at least once as he pitched a complete game and the Yankees won 4-0. Guidry had 18 strikeouts in the game.
I believe that almost every pitcher who has pitched for more than 30 innings has struck out someone in three pitches. It isn't very hard for a pitcher to strike someone out in three pitches, especially if they have pitched for 30 innings.
The pitcher in baseball at all levels of the game is vital to the defensive of the team. This holds true for youth baseball, college and professional baseball as well. Generally speaking the pitcher is the most important defensive player because he is involved with every single play in the inning pitched. The same is true for the team catcher, however, the pitcher must throw his pitch in a manner that prevents a batter from getting on base. If a pitcher cannot make most batters draw a strike or have the batter hit the ball to one of his teammates then the defense is in trouble.
Every game is different for every team. it could range greatly just between if their are alot of hitters that foul pitches off often in the lineup or if there is a pitcher that throws alot of pitches in the dirt.
On October 2, 1932, the New York Yankees beat the New York Giants 18-4. Every single Yankee batter had at least one hit on the night, and every single Giants pitcher was responsible for at least one run. The Yankees won the World Series in 6 games.
a perfect game
The Pitcher does the most work on a baseball diamond because the pitcher works on every play to try to strikeout the batter. The other players just try to get the batter/runner out when the batter hits the ball.
The pitcher is most dominant in the game of baseball. The pitcher is responsible for throwing the baseball towards the batter and thus initiating each and every play with his or her pitch.
the "side" is the term used for that teams part of the inning. so when they say striking out the side that means they struck out every batter in that part of the inning.
27 pitches. If a pitcher can get every batter out with one pitch then the total amount of pitches for the game for that pitcher will be 27.
That was California Angels first baseman Joe Rudi. Guidry struckout every batter in the Angels lineup at least once as he pitched a complete game and the Yankees won 4-0. Guidry had 18 strikeouts in the game.
Yes, but the coach won't like it. After every move a pitcher does, it's good practice for the batter to step at least one leg out of the box to regain composure and focus. As long as he has one foot out of the box, the pitcher can't pitch.
No. It can still be a no hitter. But a perfect game requires the pitcher to retire every batter he or she faces. A perfect game is broken whenever any batter reaches base, including by hit, walk, or error.
Yes
the game was tied after 9 innings. 0-0 A relief pitcher came in in the 10th inning. The team scored 4 runs before the pitchers team could score.
Suzuki has made a RM 125 every year since 1975. The 75 RM lineup replaced the successful TM lineup.
Well, it isn't luck. Baseball is a team sport, and the team members are depending on the batter to drive them in just as much as the batter depending on them to get on base. The statistic RBI shows how productive the player is when runners are on bases. A player could have bases loaded every at bt, but zero RBI's, meaning that this player is not very productive.
