Ballet is the start of every form of dance. Ballet can help with co-ordination & balance. I'd definitely give ballet a go as it can help with many other forms to. It helped me with mine :)
Ballet is a good form of exercise. It might help you lose weight but I think you need dedication to do that before or during you take ballet.
you start with just simple ballet flats, usually made from canvas. can be split soled. then you progress to demi pointe's which help to build up ankle support and get you used to the feeling of boxes and then pointe's. very hard! :)
A ballet DVD that can help children at home is Ballet 101 - A Beginner's Class. This item is around 20 dollars and is very highly rated by other users.
Here is a site that shows you how to build a barre: http://www.ehow.com/how_4796887_build-own-portable-ballet-bar.html(:
you show judges your ballet abilities to help them see if they want you for their school, company....
Ballet helps you with musicality, discipline, flexibility, muscle strength, and attention to detail.
Ballet helps you to learn to control your breathing and is a great cardio workout.
You don't have to do it but ballet helps to improve your balance and helps you to build core muscle strength. Building these crucial elements will help you to get better faster. Also, if you go to a dance school, many of the moves and jumps will be similar to those in ballet. So even though you don't have to, I would highly reccomend it.
