Since running is primarily a continuous, forward motion, rather than stop-and-go like basketball, protecting the ankle isn't as high of a priority. High top running shoes would be better for another sport besides running.

All you need is a rubber ball with a packed down dirt area, or maybe a paved area, which is better. you dont even need a basket because you can just work on your dribbling, but if you havea basket, that is better A lot of guys like wearing cut off t-shirts and shorts with high top basketball shoes, but that is up to you. Having the court (pavement/concrete) painted with the 3 point and free throw lines is optional too. Oh and yeah, you need to know how to play or you will get owned and burned a lot! Work on your free throws first, and build to 2/field goals (or jumpers/j's ) and then work on your 3 pointers (3's or trifectors). I probably overdid it, but oh well!
