Yeah but your score won't be counted since there has to be at least 5 to a team
They won't last to long if you do a lot of meets. In fact, spikes aren't the best for cross-country. But they are optional in any type of running, and they do make spikes specifically for cross-country. But if you do a lot of meets like I do, they won't last very long. I've never used spikes, they mess you up they're more for track than cross-country. In fact I've worn them once and they messed up my running because they're meant for hard ground. Cross-country can be any ground but it is usually dirt or at parks.

If your talking your average high school runner, they run about 20-30 miles a week. If your talking your average collegiate runner, they run about 60-70 miles/week. Professionals i think run about 100-120 miles/week, i wouldn't see the benefit in running any more.

Most elementary schools (k-4) do not have a specific "team" but more a running club per se. They run distances based on their individual capabilities and ages. Mostly, they run 1 mile or 2, if they are really good. It is very rare that you can see a specific talent in children that young, because they haven't built up their stamina yet. There are also running clubs for young children not affiliated with the schools. These are much more disciplined and they run much more. I have even see some of them compete in high school cross country meets. It was kinda scary to be honest.
Track and field is only like cross country in that they both involve running. While cross country involves a long, continuous run, usually off of any track, track and field involves many events that different athletes specialize in. Not all of these events involve running, such as the discus throw. The longest run in a high school track meet is two miles, all of which occurs on a track, whereas a high school cross county meet is five kilometers, or 3.1 miles.
