Yes, you are allowed to do this, people usually do this if they have a very short putt that you can't miss. But from long range it isn't ideal as you wouldn't have full control of the club.

There are no rules about grip, one is certainly welcome to play with one hand. There is even a one-armed golfers organization for those that have lost an arm or hand.

With most putters you can only putt with one side and the other picks up the ball. There are a few that you can putt with both sides but not many
