well you could break a load of bones if you try to hard like a harder slope =]
get at lest 1 lesson from a friend of so =]=] U can get really hurt if ur careless. Biggest thing is wear a helmet. I fell once and hit the back of my head with a helmet and couldn't remember why i was there until that night. Image if i wasnt protected. Really the risks are worth the reward. Once u get really good you barely ever fall unless you like doing the extreme stuff like jumps and grinds. Usually, if ur experienced you will never fall going down a steeper slope. It becomes second nature like u just learned how to walk.
Well when Snowboarding you really need common sense, your going to fall at some point, if you know you cant do a jump or a rail then don't try it. I've learned from experience!Make sure your on a hill of your level too.
you can easily break your wrist. when you fall back, from reflexes, you put your hands out in front of you or behind. putting all your weight on your wrist like that makes it easy to break it. to prevent this wear wrist guards. Also, if your not wearing a helmet you can easily get hurt. Its not very easy to break you leg if you tie up the boots very tight.
the x games, the Olympics, red bull, jack links beef jerky sponsor, totinos Pizza rolls sponsor, jake burton trying to patent snowboards in general, dudes wearing girl pants, stomp pads, tall tees, step-in bindings, bugz goggles, go-pro cameras, putting bad footage from go-pros on YouTube, shawn white, skittle kids, and the cost just too name a few things
Edit: Better answer: Snowboarding, indeed, can be an inheritly dangerous sport. I myself do it though. And while these procautions will help tremendesly, they dont make you invincible, so be smart:
-Wear protection: Helmets, Goggles, Knee & Elbow Pads all help. As you get better you can lose the pads, but i subgest always wearing a helmet.
-Take Lessons: Most if not all ski resorts have lessons that are fairly cheap. They can teach you everything from your basic turning to terrain parks when you get good.
-Take Baby Steps: (In case you don't know) Slopes are rated on difficulty using colored shapes. Green Circles are Easiest, for beginners. Blues Boxes are Easier, for amatuers. Black Diamonds are Hard, for more advanced riders, and Double Black Diamonds are EXPERTS ONLY! You may also see Horizontal Orange Bar signs, these are the Terrain (Trick) Park.
-Try to stay with a Partner: Use the Buddy System, ride with others, even if they may be complete strangers to you, so if you get hurt you can get help
HOPE THIS HELPS!
