At the first recorded ancient Olympic Games in 760 BC, there was only one event, a footrace. later events included other events such as wrestling, boxing, equestrian, discus, javelin, and jumping.
Curling became on official Olympics sport in 1998 (Nagano). Curling appeared in the Olympics a few times before that: as an official sport in 1924 (although only 3 teams played), and as a demonstration sport a handful of times in between.

Since records have been kept (1981) 140 BASE jumpers have died in the sport. In the last three years, 13 or 14 jumpers have died per year. I've personally known one.
