Apolo had first started inline speedskating when he was 6 years old, along with competitive swimming and speed roller skating. When Ohno was 12 years old, he then became interested in short-track speed skating when watching the athletes compete in the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer. Ohno stated in an interview that literally three weeks later, he was on the ice doing the sport he loves. He is now 27 years of age.
apolo ohno started speed skating when he was 12. He also swam, but preferred speed skating. His single dad (divorced parents) encouraged him to play sports to keep him busy.

Apolo Ohno used to live in Seattle, but then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah after the Olympics, I believe. He trains locally and some people that live in Utah have had the privilege of meeting him.
